Market Diversifies as Traceable Yarn Gains Ground
The traditional cotton yarn market faced a "price up, volume down" stalemate in early 2026. In contrast, traceable yarn broke through, buoyed by improved foreign trade conditions. Orders for traceable yarn-particularly for high-configuration, bleached varieties of C32S and above-grew steadily at large-scale mills in Jiangsu, Shandong, and Zhejiang, leading to significantly accelerated destocking. This upturn is supported by multiple factors, including the gradual implementation of China–U.S. trade consultation outcomes and a recovering EU economy.
Exhibitions Spotlight Tech and Green Synergy
The 2026 China International Textile Yarn (Spring/Summer) Expo, held in Shanghai in March, became a key platform for industry innovation. Gathering over 600 high-quality fiber and yarn companies from 12 countries and regions, the event underscored the sector's focus on "technology, fashion, green, and health."
A standout was Shandong Weiqiao Pioneering Group's short-process creative color spinning series, which revolutionizes dyeing by coloring fibers directly during spinning. This sharply boosts dye utilization and cuts wastewater discharge. Shenghong Group displayed its globally leading carbon-capture fiber, made by capturing factory CO₂ emissions, converting them into green ethylene glycol, and polymerizing with PTA. The resulting fiber cuts carbon emissions by 31.2% versus virgin materials.
Accelerating Intelligent Transformation
March's 14th "Global·Golden Wheel" Spinning Technology Innovation Seminar in Nantong centered on the theme "Digital Intelligence Leads, Green Efficiency Grows," facilitating in-depth discussions on cutting-edge technologies and innovation pathways. 2026 is seen as a pivotal year for China's cotton spinning sector in its shift toward new quality productive forces, with intelligent and green upgrades now essential for future competitiveness.
A notable example is Yuncheng County Taihe Textile Co., Ltd., which built a 26,000-square-meter digital workshop equipped with 170 advanced machines-60% sourced from leading textile-equipment nations like Germany, Switzerland, and Japan. The facility now supplies 200-count ultra-high-count yarns to global brands such as Uniqlo and Muji.
