The higher the count of cotton cloth, the better. High cotton yarn index, fine, good raw materials, good equipment to spin.
① Metric branches. The length (m) of a 1g fiber or yarn at a given moisture regain. The finer the fiber or yarn, the higher the metric count. The thickness of hemp fiber and wool yarn, wool type chemical fiber pure spinning, blended yarn, and silk spinning yarn and ramie yarn is expressed in metric count. The metric number of strands is expressed by dividing the nominal number of strands of single yarn constituting the strand by the number of strands.
② Number of imperial branches. The number of twist lengths of 0.4536 kg yarn at a given moisture regain (768 m per twist length of cotton yarn). The finer the yarn, the higher the imperial count. Because of the inconvenience of calculation, the number of countries using this method is decreasing. The imperial number of strands is similar to the metric number.
In addition to the above two methods of expression, Turks and Dan units are also widely used internationally. Tex is abbreviated as Tex, also known as number, and is expressed by the weight (g) of 1000m long fiber or yarn at the specified moisture regain.
