What Is The Difference Between Single Yarn And Double Yarn Of Fabric?

Basic knowledge, the larger the count, the finer the yarn, the higher the quality of the cotton required to be sent out.

Single yarn is made from cotton to yarn, which is usually twisted into ordinary cotton yarn.

Double yarn is actually a type of plied yarn, but it is limited to two yarns combined into one yarn. In the industry, they are generally plied into threads, that is, the plied yarn is called a thread, not a yarn.

The comparison is as follows,

strength:
Single yarn is not as strong as double yarn. Two-ply yarn is stronger.
Gloss:
In terms of cloth surface effect, the cloth surface effect of fabrics using double yarn will be better than that of single yarn. This is due to the quality of cotton yarn with high yarn count.

Certain fabrics have different textures
Double-ply yarn and single yarn have different effects on some varieties. In terms of textiles, the one we most commonly use is canvas. Double-ply canvas has a better texture.

In addition to the high yarn count that requires the use of good cotton, double-ply yarn also increases the cost of plying. These costs are higher than single yarns of the same density.

Summary: Double-ply yarn products are better than single-ply yarn products. For example: 300 strands of 60s single-ply yarn are significantly worse than 300 strands of 120s/2 double-ply yarn.
