Gold Velvet Yarn Is Back in Fashion Again

What exactly is Golden Velvet Yarn? To put it simply:
Many people would be confused when they first hear this name: Is it fabric or yarn?
To put it briefly: Golden Velvet Yarn is a "velvet-like yarn", and the Golden Velvet fabric it produces is the fabric woven from this yarn. The yarn itself has velvet segments (core yarn + decorative yarn + cut velvet) and feels soft and shiny when touched. When woven into fabric, it becomes the familiar "Golden Velvet" - the texture for evening gowns, sofa covers, Christmas decorations, etc.
Three reasons in 2026 that will make buyers "unwilling to change"
1️⃣ In the EU, un-certified products cannot enter the market.
2️⃣ Starting from 2025, Europe has become more stringent in its compliance checks for mid-to-high-end home textiles and clothing. The GRS recycled certification, OEKO-TEX 100, and REACH have changed from "better" to "no compromise". The Golden Velvet yarn made of recycled polyester and viscose has seen a rapid increase in its share in European brand samples - customers are not necessarily demanding environmental protection, but customs clearance and product listing are stuck here.
2️⃣ The old problem of "shedding fibers" has finally been addressed
The biggest drawback of velvet yarn is shedding fibers. Previously, when customers received the goods and shook them, there would be a layer of velvet on the ground, and the return rate would increase. Now, the leading factories (including Lenuo) have tightened the process of cutting velvet and heat setting, and the shedding rate of home textiles can be reduced to within 3%, and for toys, it still needs to meet EN71/ASTM standards. Low Shedding (Low Shedding) has now become a standard keyword in overseas inquiries, not a selling point, but a baseline.
3️⃣ Automotive and festival decorations have suddenly become a new big market
Apart from the traditional sofa, curtains, and women's clothing, two new demands are emerging:
Automotive interiors: New energy vehicles have high requirements for velvet-like texture in the interior and need to be anti-static. Rolls-Royce is already using velvet yarn fabrics.
Festival decorations: During the Eid al-Fitr in the Middle East and the Christmas season in Europe, gold and silver thread velvet yarn is used for tassels, balls, and decorations, and the order volume is considerable, with strong seasonality and quick repeat orders.
