Where Does China's Wool Mainly Come From?

1. Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region: The annual cashmere output is 4,200 tons, mainly produced in Ordos City, Bayannur League, Alxa League, Xilingol League and Chifeng City.

 

The cashmere fiber produced is slender, soft to the touch, strong in tension, good in luster, white in color, mostly rock candy color, with moderate elasticity, spherical or steamed bun shape, less coarse hair, and high net cashmere rate. Generally, the quality in the west is better than that in the east, and the color is mainly white velvet. The region's cashmere output and quality rank first in my country.

 

2. Tibet Autonomous Region: The annual cashmere output is 592 tons, mainly produced in Ngari, Nagqu, and Shigatse regions, and concentrated in Ritu, Gaize, Geji, Nyima, Wenbu, Bangor and other counties. Among them, Ritu and Gai have better quality.

Its characteristics are: the fibers are thin, soft, soft in luster, mostly shallowly curved, elastic, and the coat color is miscellaneous. The velvet fineness is 14.5-15.5um, the length is 40-50mm, and the net velvet rate is around 45%.

 

3. Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region: with an annual output of 810 tons of cashmere, it is mainly produced in Altay, Tacheng and Qinghe regions in northern Xinjiang, Aksu, Kashgar and Hotan regions in southern Xinjiang, and Hami and Barkol in eastern Xinjiang. Among them, northern Xinjiang has the largest output and better quality, followed by southern Xinjiang and eastern Xinjiang.

Its characteristics: long fibers, large pulling force, good luster, mixed colors, and coarse loose hair with poor softness. The fineness is 14-16um, the individual cashmere yield is 150-300 grams, the impurity content is less, and the net cashmere rate is high.

4. Qinghai Province: The annual cashmere output is 420 tons, mainly produced in Dulan, Ulan and Delingha in Haixi Prefecture. Haibei Prefecture has the largest output and better quality.

 

Its characteristics: the downy melon is relatively loose and thin, with a high net down rate and a cleaning rate of 60-62%.

 

5. Gansu Province: The annual cashmere output is 410 tons, mainly concentrated in Subei, Sunan and Huanxian, Huachi, Heshui and other places in Qingyang area.

 

Its characteristics: thicker fiber, less impurities, high cleaning rate, net cashmere rate of about 46%, average fineness of 15.5um, and short length of about 40mm.
