Why are quilt covers seldom made of polyester?
First of all, why don't you use pure polyester for bed products. Polyester is the most widely used chemical fiber, but it is too slippery and has poor moisture absorption. Sensitive skin may have allergic reactions when rubbing with the fabric for many times. Polyester will also become hard due to oxidation. At the same time, it has the contact experience of being colder when cold and hotter when hot. There is also the electrostatic problem mentioned by the friends upstairs, which may not only cause discomfort when using, but also absorb dust. It is conceivable that the bedding covers a large area, which absorbs dust. The comfort and cleanliness are not very good, so there are few pure polyester bedding (especially the quilt cover, which is made of polyester, and the quilt must run around inside). However, polyester cotton blended bedding is still very common, with better light resistance, easy washing and quick drying, and affordable price, but it is certainly not as comfortable as natural fibers. In places with high humidity, pure cotton products are really damp, but pure polyester will harden under high humidity and become uncomfortable after rubbing with the skin. Blended materials are a good choice.
Besides being natural, the comfort of cotton is also related to the shape of fiber. Dacron is made of polyester filament, while cotton like filament is cut into cotton like staple fibers and treated to obtain certain crimp. Cotton like effect is obtained by processing staple fibers. It is also the same when blended with cotton. Convenient processing also makes yarn quality more stable. Polyester fabrics for sportswear and outdoor products generally improve their skin affinity, moisture absorption and sweat wicking properties through fiber modification or special design of fabric structure. Chemical modification can use alkali treatment, surface grafting, plasma treatment, etc. The structural treatment is not easy to describe, probably using grid structure. The main requirements of outdoor products are light, thin, fast drying, durable, and easy to carry. Polyester can well meet these requirements, but generally speaking, sleeping bags are only tools to meet sleep requirements in special environments, not suitable for long-term sleep.
