Application

Cashmere Fiber

Short in length, low in strength, the scales covering the fiber surface are thin and sparse, and close to each other.

Because the fiber has fewer curls and a smaller friction coefficient than wool, the fiber is smoother, the fiber cohesion is poor, and the shrinkage is worse than wool, but it feels smooth and sticky.

 

Although cashmere fiber has fewer curls, the curl depth is large. Generally, the straightness of cashmere is more than 300%, while that of 64-count Merino wool is only 160%. Therefore, cashmere products are better at keeping warm than wool.

Under the same temperature and humidity conditions, cashmere is easier to absorb moisture than wool.

Cashmere fibers can be soaked in water within a few seconds, while wool takes several minutes. Since the global cashmere production is only 1% of wool production, the price of cashmere is only more than ten times that of wool, making it the most precious animal fiber.
