Product Instruction
Mercerised cotton yarn is a type of yarn that is treated with caustic soda, also known as sodium hydroxide. This treatment process causes the cotton fibres to swell, resulting in a smooth and lustrous surface. This also increases the strength and durability of the yarn.
Being a popular choice among knitters all over the world, mercerised cotton is a versatile yarn with a number of benefits. The yarn possesses a high degree of absorption and takes dyes easily, making it available in a broad spectrum of colours. Moreover, the smooth surface gives a polished look to the finished product. The interplay between the stitches is more visible with mercerised cotton knitting yarn, making it perfect for intricate designs.

Mercerizing process:
Step 1: Prepare yarn
Before the mercerizing process, you need to prepare the cotton yarn processed by spinning and other processes.
Step 2: Pre-treat the yarn
Pre-treatment mainly refers to soaking, softening, dust removal and other operations to ensure the good subsequent mercerizing effect. At this stage, the yarn needs to be measured and proportioned to ensure that the state of each yarn is as consistent as possible.
Step 3: Dyeing
Dyeing is an important part of the mercerizing process, which can change the color and gloss of the yarn and make the entire mercerizing effect appear brighter. During the dyeing process, it is necessary to control the temperature, color paste concentration and the use of active agents to ensure that the dyeing achieves the expected effect.
Step 4: Mercerizing
Mercerizing is the core part of the entire process. At this stage, special equipment (such as mercerizing machine or light plate machine) is needed to rotate and rub at high speed to make the dyed yarn reach a certain gloss and make its appearance more beautiful.
Step 5, post-treatment
After the mercerization is completed, post-treatment is required to increase the softness and wear resistance of the yarn while maintaining its glossiness. This process is completed by acid washing, alkali washing, bleaching or other methods.
