5 Bulky Acrylic Yarn

5 Bulky Acrylic Yarn is made mainly from anti-pill acrylic. Some high-end models can be enhanced with 20-30% nylon to improve durability and shape retention. The texture is fluffy and soft, similar to merino wool, but the price is only 1/3 to 1/5 of that of natural fibers. It is one of the most popular "fast-moving wool yarn" categories in the European and American hand-knitting market, with the largest shipment volume.

Affordable large blanket, quick to make - Acrylic material has a low cost, #5 Bulky yarn is thick, one adult blanket can be made with 2-3 balls.
Machine washable and dryable, friendly for lazy people - Unlike wool/sheep's wool which needs to be laid flat to air dry, acrylic can be machine washed and dried at low temperature (care label: Machine wash warm, tumble dry low). It is the top choice for pet beds, baby blankets, and home decor.
Saturation of color and color difference control in the same batch - Acrylic has a high coloration rate with cationic dyes. The color card can cover 50-100 colors. Same dye lot control is implemented. The brand does not worry about color fading when making kits.
Optional Anti-pill treatment - Ordinary acrylic is prone to pillage. Our #5 Bulky adopts a high shrinkage + anti-pill finishing version. The pillage level at the friction areas (cuff, pet's paw rubbing) is 3-4 grades.
Low allergenicity, no wool grease - People with wool allergies, babies, and pets (cats and dogs chewing fur) can use it. This is the core reason why acrylic is competing with wool in the market.

Q: Will 100% acrylic fabric pill?
A: Ordinary acrylic fabric tends to pill at the friction points. Our product uses anti-pill finishing (anti-pill acrylic), and it has a pill level of 3-4 on the standard Martindele friction test. It is acceptable for daily use. If you have higher requirements for wear resistance (such as pet sweaters, children's knees and elbows), it is recommended to choose 80/20 or 70/30 acrylic + nylon blended fabric versions.
Q: How many balls does a single adult throw blanket require?
A: Taking 100g/110m, 8mm knitting stockinette as an example, a 50″×60″ throw blanket needs 6-8 balls (600-800g); a baby blanket of 30″×30″ requires about 2-3 balls. The exact quantity varies depending on the pattern density.
Q: Can custom colors be made?
A: Yes. The MOQ (minimum order quantity) is discussed based on color and ball weight. Regularly, 50 color ready-made color cards + two lines of sample dyeing are carried out in parallel. OEM ball labels / UPC / zipper bags are supported.
